What is ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, is a neurological disorder in which the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin are deficient in the brain. This deficiency impacts a regulatory role of the brain known as “executive function.”  Common symptoms of difficulties in executive function include difficulties with cognitive processes such as memory, focus, motivation, emotion, action, time awareness, impulsivity, and mental flexibility.

What is an ADHD Coach?

An ADHD Life Coach is a professional, guided by an international governing body with standards and ethics, who has skills and training in Life Coaching and an advanced expertise in ADHD.

How does coaching work?

Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximize your personal and professional potential. Together, during the initial strategy session, we will clarify your current challenges and begin to design specific strategies that will work with your unique brain style, instinctive ways of navigating your world, and hopes and dreams for the future. Through this process, you will learn to create strategies, plans and specific actions to minimize your struggles and help you reach your goals.

Following an initial strategy session, you and I will meet weekly either over the phone, through Zoom or in person, for 50-minute conversational sessions.  In each session, we will talk about your success during the past week, where you continue to struggle, and, together, we will refine your strategies.  Between our sessions you will continue to develop new habits while you grow and change based on the “coaching field work” that you have agreed to do.

What happens during our sessions?

Mostly this is up to you. Coaching is a process in which I support you in staying focused while you make changes in your life.  During our session, you will set the agenda and I will provide the support needed. We will coach around any areas of struggle by defining your obstacles and designing custom strategies so you can discover where your power lies and succeed in overcoming your challenges!

How long does coaching take?

This depends entirely on you and your individual challenges and goals.  I ask that my clients consider at least a three-month commitment in order to establish our relationship and for you to experience noticeable progress and change.  The longer we work together, the more results you will achieve!

What is the next step?

The next step is to schedule a 15 minute complimentary consultation appointment with me.  During this time we will be able to discuss one-on-one what you need at this time, what challenges you are experiencing and, together, we will determine if scheduling an ADHD Coaching Strategy and Planning Session might be your next best step.
